EX-SERVICEMEN WELFARE BOARD

OFFICE OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF EX-SERVICEMEN’S WELFARE, THANJAVUR

The Department of Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare is under the administrative control of the Public Department, and is responsible for the rehabilitation and resettlement of ex-servicemen and their dependents and welfare of the families of Serving Defence. Personnel in the State. All Welfare Schemes are being implemented through the District Office.  The Special Secretary to Government, Public Department is the Ex-Officio Director of Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare and the controlling Officer is the Additional Director, Directorate of Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare, Chennai.

The District Collector is the President of the District Soldier’s, Sailor’s and Airmen’s Board and the Deputy/Assistant Director Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare of the District is the Secretary. The Directorate of Ex-servicemen’s Welfare co-ordinates and controls the following Welfare activities of the District Offices.

Schemes Operated Under Tamil Nadu Ex-Services Personnel Benevolent Fund

Schemes Operated Under Amalgamated Fund

WELFARE MEASURE OF BATTLE CASUALTIES:
01. Marriage Grant of Rs.1,00,000/- and 8 gms Gold Coin for making  Thirumangalyam for the daughters of Defence Personnel killed or disabled in

action with disabilities 50% and above. Similarly, Rs.50,000/- and 8 gms Gold  Coin for making Thirumangalyam whose disability is less than 50%.

02. Annual Maintenance Grant of Rs.25,000/- to the next of kin of Defence Personnel killed and to the personnel disabled in war /  War  – like operations for life time.
03 Housing Grant of Rs.50,000/- to widows of Defence Personnel killed and to the personnel disabled in action in all conflicts after Independence (One Time)
04 Ex-Gratia of Rs.2,00,000/- to the War Widows/ Next of kin of Battle Casualties and of Rs.1,00,000/- to the Defence Personnel Disabled in action.
INITIATIVES TO SUPPORT SELF EMPLOYMENT:

01.

Reimbursement of 75% of interest of Bank Loans, upto a maximum of Rs.10.00 Lakhs, for Self employment ventures.

02.

Reimbursement of 100% of interest of Bank Loans, upto maximum of Rs.15.00 Lakhs availed by Self Help Groups of Ex-Servicemen and their widows, for self employment activities.

03

Subsidy of 25% subject to a maximum of Rs.50,000/- on the cost of industrial Shed/ Plot for venture in Industrial activities.

INITIATIVES TO SUPPORT EDUCATION AMONG WARDS OF EX-SERVICEMEN
  01.

Ex-Servicemen Children Literacy improvement grant (ECLIG) to the wards of Ex-Servicemen ranging from Rs.2,000/- to Rs.10,000/- per student per annum from 1st std to Post Graduate Level (Academic Courses).

02.

ECLIG of Rs.25,000/- p.a to all Technical / Professional / Vocational Degree and Post Graduate Courses to Wards of Ex-Servicemen

03.

ECLIG of Rs.20,000/- p.a to all Diploma Courses in Polytechnic to Wards of Ex-Servicemen

04.

ECLIG of Rs.10,000/- p.a. to all ITI / Certificate Courses approved by Government to Wards of Ex-Servicemen

05

Lumpsum Grant of Rs.25,000/- to Rs.1,00,000/- paid to Children of                         Ex-Servicemen joining Indian Armed Forces.

06. An incentive of Rs.50,000/- per student per annum to the wards of Ex-Servicemen studying in IITs / IIMs and National Law Schools who are native of  Tamil Nadu up to the rank of JCOs including Honorary Commissioned Officers from academic year 2022-2023
07 An incentive of Rs.25,000/- per student per annum to the wards of                        Ex-Servicemen who are studying in Sainik Schools w.e.f. 2022-23.

 

Honouring the Parents

To honour the parents those who have contributed to the cause to the Nation by way of sending their only son / daughter or more than one son / daughter to Armed Forces by awarding them with War Services Incentive as indicated below:

01. Parents who have sent their only son / daughter Rs.20,000/- (One Time Grant) Plus Silver Medal Worth Rs.1,000/-
02 Parents who have sent more than one son/ daughter Rs.25,000/-  (One Time Grant) Plus Silver Medal worth Rs.1,000/-
